Boom Trucks
Boom trucks have many uses but usually very expensive. Basically these trucks are trucks with construction booms connected to the rear used for elevating or hoisting heavy equipments. Phone company used this kind of truck in setting up or fixing phone lines and arborists in trimming trees. They are raised and carried by a container which is attached to a long arm and fixed firmly on a heavy duty truck.
These trucks are all heavy duty that differs in power and size. It has hydraulic lifting equipment usually connected at the back of the truck bed. Boom trucks range from lighter trucks to heavy duty flatbed trucks. The size of the truck and boom will depend on the size of the loads being lifted and the distance in transporting.
Boom trucks with cranes are familiar equipment seen on construction sites and loading ports. When these trucks work on a limited space it only needs a knuckle boom or a short compact boom. But when space is not a concern, a trolley boom is used wherein the boom crane can be flat extending the length of the truck bed. These trucks can raise and move construction materials, shipping containers and other heavy mobile equipments.
Boom trucks also do jobs like getting concrete to the top of a very high building during its construction by pumping concrete directly to the top using a nozzle attached to the far end of the vehicle. Another example of boom trucks is the ladder truck used by the fire departments in rescue operation and putting off fire.
